‘I Cass County’ T-shirt fundraiser helps Cass Regional employees and food pantry Kevin Latinis, MD, PhD, who specializes in rheumatology at Cass Regional, organized a T-shirt fundraiser in April to support Cass Regional’s Employee Assistance Fund and Shepherd’s Staff Food Pantry in Harrisonville. More than 40%of Cass Regional’s 400-plus employees reported inMarch that theywere facing struggles on the home front, with spouses having lost jobs and other hardships due to the coronavirus emergency. Cass Regional Foundation’s EmployeeAssistance Fund helps Cass Regional employees with rent/mortgage, utilities, and food/supplies. At the same time, Shepherd’s Staff Food Pantry in Harrisonville was facing a shortfall in operating funds due to COVID-19. The food pantry relies on revenue from the HarrisonvilleMinisterial Alliance’s Thrift Shop for 23%of its budget, and the thrift shop was closed for several weeks during stay-at-home orders. Designed by Kateri Yoakum, certified nursing assistant at Cass Regional, the “I Cass County” T-shirts were sold online during themonth of April, raisingmore than $600 total in support of both charities.
