Cass Regional Medical Center | Wellness Matters | Spring 2020

Successful accreditation surveys by The Joint Commission Provided more than $18,450 in assistance to nearly 170 patients 485 employees Quality ͸͸ We continued to show strong performance in the Centers for Medicare &Medicaid Services (CMS) five-star quality rating system, which evaluates a hospital’s overall performance on inpatient satisfaction, patient safety, outcomes of care, readmissions and efficiency measures. Cass Regional received 4 out of 5 stars. We were one of 27 facilities within the state of Missouri to receive this level of rating and the only Cass County hospital to receive such. ͸͸ Through efforts across the organization, we achieved our goal to reduce our Harm Index score by 10% over the prior year. ͸͸ We had successful accreditation surveys by The Joint Commission for both our laboratory and the hospital overall. ͸͸ We purchased equipment to improve the safety and delivery of care, including a video borescope, which is a special camera designed to be used after cleaning to inspect inside endoscopes, channels, lumens, shavers and other internal surfaces for any residual debris or fluid that could interfere with the disinfection or sterilization process. Growth ͸͸ We welcomed Clinton Seifert, MD, to our provider network as a general surgeon at Harrisonville Medical Clinic. ͸͸ Donors to Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation’s Boots & Bar-B-Que fundraiser contributed more than $65,000 to support construction of The Floyd and Franceline Parris Community Trail. ͸͸ We expanded our oncology clinic availability with the addition of Jaswinder Singh, MD, and his new oncology practice, MidAmerica Cancer Care. ͸͸ We welcomed orthopedic surgeon Tyson Travis, DO, to Cass Regional Orthopedics. ͸͸ Research Neurology Associates and Midwest Women’s Healthcare each added an additional day per week of neurology and gynecology coverage, respectively, at their clinic in Rock Haven Medical Mall. ͸͸ We experienced a 64% increase in the number of ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeries performed at Cass Regional with the addition of ENT Associates of Greater Kansas City and their physicians: Brandon Johnson, MD; Kelvin Walls, MD; and Nicholas Wirtz, MD. ͸͸ We continued to add to our telemedicine capabilities, and now have telepsychiatry to support our Emergency Department and inpatient units. ͸͸ We completed a Community Health Needs Assessment and developed a three-year plan to address some of the identified needs. 1,300 comfort items given to patients Wellness Matters | Spring 2020 5
