Wellness Matters | Spring 2021 5 Growth • We added gastroenterology (GI) coverage through Consultants in Gastroenterology. Rishi Grewal, MD; Donald Clement, MD; and their colleagues see patients and perform procedures at Cass Regional at least two days per month. • We added a day per week of urology clinic coverage with the addition of Todd Johnson, MD, of Kansas City Urology Care. • We now offer non-emergent cardiology and pulmonary medicine inpatient consultations via telemedicine, reducing the need to transfer patients to other facilities. • We completed construction of The Floyd and Franceline Parris Community Trail, which is a project of Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation and was made possible through donations frommany individuals, businesses and organizations. • We expanded our oncology clinic coverage from one half day per week to two days per week with the addition of Preethi Ramachandran, MD, and Nicholas Shuler, DO, to the practice of Jaswinder Singh, MD. • Rheumatologist Kevin Latinis, MD, PhD, expanded his clinic to three days per week and welcomed nurse practitioner Gina Accurso-Lee, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, to his practice. • We signed an agreement with Jessica Testa, DO, to expand physician coverage at Pleasant Hill Medical Clinic. Dr. Testa will join the practice in July 2021. • Our Board of Trustees approved a plan to expand the oncology, rheumatology and infusion clinic space at Cass Regional Medical Center in order to accommodate additional growth. The board also approved design services to support the expansion of the Pleasant Hill Medical Clinic, which will add medical imaging capabilities to the clinic. Work on both projects is scheduled to begin this year. • We expanded our 340B drug program and plan to use the savings it will generate to fund projects that address community health needs. Report Telehealth platform launched Top 15% in physician engagement Nearly $2.5 million invested in facilities and equipment Provided $938,660 in charity care were impacted by the pandemic received nearly $24,000 in aid from the Employee Assistance Fund. • In December we administered first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to 100 employees and medical staff, with more to come in 2021. • Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation awarded $16,500 in scholarships to 12 students who are pursuing careers and/or continuing education in health care. • Our Patient Assistance Fund, which is made possible by donations to Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation, provided more than $12,500 in assistance to 135 patients.
