Wellness Matters | Fall 2019 7 2016 Completed a $2.3million, 7,000-square-foot expansion to house a newMRI machine, grow and enhancemedical imaging services, and provide space for future emergency department growth. Refinanced the hospital revenue bonds issued in 2007 to construct the new facility, saving $11 million over the life of the bond. Attained accreditation by the American College of Radiology for several imaging systems, including the 16-slice CT scanner, 64-slice CT scanner, ultrasound system and nuclear medicine camera. 2017 Acquired a $60,000 trauma patient simulator manikin to enhance training capabilities within our patient care simulation laboratory. Implemented a hospitalist program to provide inpatient care by physicians who specialize in treating hospitalized patients. Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary honored by the Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries as the Category 1 Auxiliary of the Year. Began participating in the national Stop the Bleed campaign to educate first responders, teachers and the public about bleeding control. 2015 Made a $100,000 donation to Cass County Dental Clinic to support the establishment of a second location in Harrisonville to serve children in need. Became the first hospital in Cass County to offer breast tomosynthesis, also known as 3-Dmammography. Remodeled our specialists clinic to expand the infusion therapy area and accommodate the relocation and expansion of the painmanagement clinic. Opened the patient care simulation laboratory, which houses the patient simulation manikins and is used for the ongoing training of Cass Regional’s clinical staff as well as nursing students from Cass Career Center. 2018 Certified as an Acute Stroke- Ready Hospital by The Joint Commission. Added a second telemedicine robot to support teleneurology and telestroke services in the emergency department and inpatient units. Added the New Vision™ program, an inpatient medical stabilization service for adults experiencing withdrawal from drugs and/or alcohol. 2019 Expanded our cardiac rehabilitation services to include patients who have an implanted ventricular assist device (VAD). Began offering telemedicine psychiatric evaluations and consultations for emergency and hospitalized patients. 2009 to present Added five new specialties (bariatric surgery, chiropractic, dermatology, endocrinology and rheumatology), bringing the total to 20. Expanded the number of providers available to care for patients, including two additional general surgeons, an additional orthopedic surgeon, a podiatrist, and five additional family practice providers. Provided more than $12.6million in charity care to area residents. Donated nearly $260,000 in support of area schools and charitable causes. Expanded the number of employees from 373 to 464—and these jobs result in approximately $32million in annual salaries and benefits that are re-invested locally through employees who live and shop in our area communities.
