Wellness Matters | Spring 2019 5 w w For the second year in a row, we were named a recipient of the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award™, a designation that recognizes superior performance by hospitals in preventing the occurrence of serious, potentially avoidable complications for patients during hospital stays. The distinction placed Cass Regional among the top quartile of all acute care hospitals reporting patient safety data as evaluated by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Cass Regional was among just eight Missouri hospitals to receive this recognition. w w We were recognized by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health for overall quality, performing in the top quartile among all rural hospitals in the nation. w w We attained certification as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital from The Joint Commission. w w We launched the new ambulatory module of our electronic health record within our previously paper-based specialty clinics. This project is a significant step in our journey toward having a single integrated medical record that will be accessible across the entire organization (inpatient, outpatient, Emergency Department and clinics). w w The board of trustees adopted a Harm Index, which measures actual and potential harmful events that occur within the organization and targets reduction of these harms over time until a zero defect rate is achieved.
