Cass Regional Medical Center | Wellness Matters | Spring 2018

w w In partnership with P&C Healthcare and Harrisonville Family Medicine, we implemented a hospitalist program through which all inpatient care is overseen by physicians who specialize in treating hospitalized patients. The program benefits the community by improving inpatient care and by creating additional office appointment availability for primary care providers in the area who, in the past, have covered the inpatient units as well. w w We expanded primary care access by adding two new family practice providers—Jolie Chance, DO, at Pleasant Hill Medical Clinic and Kingsville Medical Clinic, and Heather Bloesser, DO, at we honored 59 employees for their combined 715 years of service to the organization. w w One of our trustees, Toni Wiseman, received Governance Excellence certification from the Missouri Hospital Association for voluntarily completing a series of educational workshops designed to strengthen her knowledge and skills as a hospital board member. w w We welcomed Danny Carmichael to the board of trustees in April, following his election to the board by the citizens of Cass County. w w Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation awarded $8,500 in scholarships to nine students from Cass County who are pursuing careers or continuing education in health care, and our Auxiliary awarded one $1,500 scholarship to a Cass County resident who is pursuing education in a health-related field. w w Our Auxiliary members donated nearly 13,000 hours of service, helping patients, visitors and staff in several areas of the organization. The group was also honored by the Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries as the Category 1 Auxiliary of the Year. w w Our Patient Assistance Fund, which is made possible by donations to Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation, provided nearly $2,600 in assistance to 79 patients. 2017 Community Benefit Report —Continued from front page w w We were named a recipient of the Healthgrades 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award™, a designation that recognizes superior performance in hospitals that have prevented the occurrence of serious, potentially avoidable complications for patients during hospital stays. The distinction placed Cass Regional among the top 10 percent of all acute-care hospitals reporting patient safety data for its excellent performance as evaluated by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Cass Regional was among just 10 Missouri hospitals to receive this recognition. w w We achieved significant improvement in a majority of our core quality measures, and we were above the 90th percentile nationally on our Emergency Department core measure of arrival-to-discharge times for nonadmitted patients. w w Through concerted efforts, we reduced the number of patient falls within our organization by 50 percent. w w Our Medical Imaging department became a national show site for the Siemens MRI machine, based on the quality of images that are produced by our staff who utilize the equipment.
