NEW PHYSICIANS EAR, NOSE AND THROAT New ENTs join Cass Regional Wellness Matters | Spring 2019 3 The physicians of ENT Associates of Greater Kansas City are now providing services at Harrisonville Medical Clinic located on the Cass Regional campus. The doctors took on the practice of Mary A. Luce, MD, who recently retired after 36 years at Cass Regional. An ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist, also called an otolaryngologist, is in the clinic Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the group handles on-call responsibilities as well. The physicians from ENT Associates of Greater Kansas City who practice at Harrisonville Medical Clinic are Brandon Johnson, MD; Kelvin Walls, MD; and Nicholas Wirtz, MD. Brandon Johnson, MD Dr. Johnson recently finished residency training at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Johnson grew up in Washington, Missouri, a small town near St. Louis, before attending Saint Louis University to earn his undergraduate degree. He spent the next several years working in the medical device industry before pursuing a career in medicine. Since earning his medical degree from the University of Missouri–Columbia, Dr. Johnson has lived and worked in the Kansas City area, and treats the full spectrum of ear, nose and throat related conditions. Kelvin Walls, MD Dr. Walls is board certified in ear, nose and throat surgery, with over 20 years of experience. Dr. Walls is a native Missourian who grew up in southeast Missouri and earned undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri–Columbia. He completed his surgery internship at Jewish Hospital (now Barnes Jewish Hospital) in St. Louis, and his ENT residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Walls appreciates the flexibility that his specialty provides, allowing him to care for both children and adults. He is available for appointments in general ENT, with emphases on sinus and allergy care. Nicholas Wirtz, MD Dr. Wirtz is a fellowship-trained otolaryngologist (ENT)/head and neck surgeon specializing in the management of cancers of the head and neck. A native of Blue Springs, Missouri, he earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri, graduating summa cum laude with honors. He completed residency at the University of Minnesota, and was awarded Outstanding Resident Clinician, an honor given to the top chief resident. He furthered his training by completing a fellowship in advanced oncologic head and neck surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. In addition to Dr. Johnson, Dr. Walls and Dr. Wirtz, there are two audiologists, Danielle Barton, AuD, CH-TM, CCC/A, FAAA, and Kelly Spiller, AuD, CCC/A, FAAA, who also provide care for Cass Regional’s ear, nose and throat patients.
